Frequently asked questions
Is shredding better than wiping a hard drive? +
Neither is universally better. They serve different needs. Verified wiping (NIST 800-88) lets healthy drives be reused, recovering value and reducing waste. Shredding guarantees destruction and is required for failed drives or the strictest policies. TurnKey does both and helps you pick per drive.
Do you shred SSDs and not just spinning drives? +
Yes. SSDs require destruction to a smaller particle size than traditional hard drives to be secure, and our processing accounts for that. Both HDDs and SSDs are handled and documented by serial number.
